We've spent a lot of time ensuring that unfollows & follows you make on ManageFlitter appear on your Twitter account quickly and reliably. We deliver over 10,000,000 unfollows & follows to Twitter every single day!
However a small number of actions will fail or be delayed. We'll cover the possible reasons for this below.
1) Maintenance or heavy load on Twitter
While most unfollows or follows received by Twitter are processed immediately, Twitter will occasionally experience delays in processing requests. Sometimes these delays can last up to 12 hours. If your unfollows/follows have gone through quickly one day, but are delaying in showing up the next day often they will still eventually show up. We recommend waiting a full day before considering a follow or unfollow failed. It's only when unfollows or follows are rejected by Twitter that they will not be eventually processed and in these cases you will receive a notification
2) You have followed too many people in the past 24 hours
Twitter has hard limits of 1,000 follows per day and additional limits once you follow more than 2,000 people. These limits will change as your account grows and the number of people who follow you changes. If you hit up against a limit and your follow fails, you will receive a notification on ManageFlitter. These notifications appear on login and you can find historic notifications here: http://manageflitter.com/dashboard/notifications
Failed follows due to limits will show the message "You are unable to follow more people at this time." Once you see this message you will not be able to follow any more people on Twitter or on any application until 24 hours has passed. You can find additional information about these limits here: https://support.twitter.com/articles/66885-i-can-t-follow-people-follow-limits
3) An user has blocked you, a user has been deleted or suspended or your account has been suspended
Infrequently you may also see notifications that let you know that individual unfollows or follows have failed. If you click on the notification that appears at the top of the page on ManageFlitter you will find out additional information about why this action has failed. These messages are provided by Twitter with reasons why unfollows or follows could not be processed.
